Doi Mae Salong,
started as a
settlement of the Kuomintang who fled China after they loose
against Mao. Now a little China town with some hotels,
recreation, temples and tea plantations and some hill tribes
from the area around, mainly Akha, Lisu and Hmong plus
people Chinas southern provinces who continously move into
northern Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.
There are great panoramas,
a excellent atmosphere and a pretty environ. Something real
different considering Bangkok and other places in Thailand.
A couple of years ago this was
part of the
golden triangle opium poppy
growing area but this flowers have been substituted by other
crops. |
